First Responders
At EMDR Transformations Counseling (ETC), we specialize in supporting the mental health and well-being of first responders across Arizona. Collaborating with organizations such as Public Safety Crisis Solutions, the Compassion Alliance, Gilbert Fire & Rescue, and other departments across the state, we are dedicated to being “the first responders for first responders”

Our Expertise
Our highly skilled team specializes in trauma therapy for first responders, veterans, individuals, couples, families, and children, with EMDR therapy at the core of our approach. Each therapist is not only trained in first responder culture but also brings extensive experience in trauma-focused care. This specialized expertise enables us to effectively address the unique challenges first responders face, including trauma exposure, demanding job conditions, and the stress of balancing work and personal life.
Our Approach
Privacy is our top priority, and heath care records are protected. No one can access records without written permission from the member. With specialized training in first responder cultural competency, we recognize the unique challenges of trauma exposure, job demands, and the stresses of work-life balance. We understand the sensitive nature of mental health care for first responders. To support first responders, their families, and their departments, we offer a variety of services including individual counseling, couples counseling, and family therapy tailored to their specific needs. Additionally, we offer comprehensive mental health and wellness programs tailored to each department and its members, providing targeted support to enhance overall well-being and resilience.
What We Offer

- Annual mental health screenings for departments, designed to ensure privacy and individualized care

Our Wellness Assessment Process
- Initial Assessment: We provide a detailed screening, including 14 questionnaires on topics like stress, trauma, and sleep. Each responder has a private 75-minute session with a licensed therapist.
- Follow-Up: A personalized wellness plan is shared via personal email, followed by an optional 30-minute check-in after 4-6 weeks.
- Final Report: A non-diagnostic, confidential department-wide utilization report is provided, highlighting common themes and overall well-being.
We prioritize confidentiality and trauma-informed care, ensuring first responders get the support they need without fear of punitive actions.
Committed to Well-Being
At EMDR Transformations Counseling, our mission is to ensure that every first responder receives the support they need. We are dedicated to helping them access care through available resources, including the Craig Tiger Act (CTA)/HB 2502, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), and other assistance options.
